GET TO KNOW ME
Struggle, Aspiration, Destruction and Confidence are all embedded in B Ward's lexicon. A native of Paterson, NJ, B is no stranger to adversity, but he's equally acquainted with progress and achievement. He utilizes story telling to provide a road map, guiding the lost on their journey towards self determination.
B Ward was born into a relatively stable family, but watched helplessly as addiction tore that family apart. His parents no longer able to take care of him, B was taken in by his grandfather, whom he credits for casting the mold that shaped his mind and instilled in him a sense a pride, perseverance and honor.
B Ward planted his musical roots at the age of 15, persuaded by his friends to join their rap collective known as Silk Mils. He sharpened his skills by participating in freestyle competitions, collaborative writing and recording sessions. Though infighting led to dissolution of the collective, that experience promoted a belief within himself that he's a talented artist.
After high school, B attended Berkeley College and earned a degree in Business Administration. "Petrified" by the thought of leading a life of mediocrity, B decided to trade security for control over his own destiny. Inspired by rap legends such as Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Drake and J. Cole, B chose to pave his own lane by combining his intellectual prowess with his artistic flair. His 2019 albums The Pledge and Mogul Music serve as showcases for both.
Understanding the music business isn't what it used to be, B Ward sees no barriers to success in the current environment. He's taking heed to the most important lesson his grandfather taught him; taking the bull by the horns. When asked what motivates him, B cites his young king, Jacob, as his primary source of inspiration. Laser focused on building, B never loses sight of the most important lesson he can pass on to his son; you don't need a seat at the table when you sit on a throne.
